Nancy Scheer began formal art training at the age of nine, and at fifteen, in the Young People's Studio program at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. She attended Parsons School of Design in New York and received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She attended Johns Hopkins University for the Creative Writing MFA Program.

Scheer became an active member of cooperative spaces and managerial staff in galleries in Baltimore and Scottsdale, and exhibited her work extensively across the United States and  Canada, including two solo exhibitions at Arizona State University and Stevenson University. She is also a professional calligrapher.

Scheer continues to create and exhibit her work, offer calligraphy services and is in the process of writing her first novel.
