Nancy Scheer began formal art training at Parsons School of Design in New York City on a full scholarship for communication design, and received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. She also attended Johns Hopkins University for the Creative Writing MFA Program. 

Scheer became an active member of cooperative spaces and a part of the managerial staff in galleries in Baltimore, Maryland and Scottsdale, Arizona, and exhibited her work extensively across the United States and Canada, including two solo exhibitions at Arizona State University and Stevenson University (Baltimore). She is also a professional calligrapher, and had her business, Ink by Nancy, from 1992-2023.

Scheer continues to create paintings and linocuts.


My artwork is primarily figurative and self-referential. Through a slow process of distillation, my goal is to reach the core element of my experiences, with a great awareness of the interactions between color, line and gesture.
